Some parents and teachers at my kids’ school are working on creating an edible garden in our schoolyard. The plan so far is to begin modestly and grow from there. It’s exciting and scary (mostly because of the amount of work) but a new book that one of the teachers lent me is offering lots of inspiration and great ideas.
Aimed at parents and teachers, How to Grow a School Garden has tons of practical advice, charts and lists (say, how to stock your tool shed or how to get a reluctant principal on side), curriculum ideas, stories and more. Well worth a read if you’re thinking about taking the plunge into a school garden project.
