Lunch line: the movie

More reason to feel hopeful about change in American school lunches in the Washington Post today in a story about a high school student leading a “chicken nugget rebellion.”

And if that’s not convincing, check out spoken word artist Decora slamming nasty lunches (my favourite line: “I got a garden at home/ That’ll displace a gnome…”).

Decora appears on a website connected to a new school lunch movie that had its premiere last night at the Farm to Cafeteria Conference in Detroit. Lunch Line follows a group of Chicago high school kids who enter a cooking contest to create a healthier school lunch and end up at the White House.

Plans are afoot to bring it to theatres around the US. Maybe they can be convinced to come north of the 49th parallel, too.  Check out the trailer:
